Hi!
I have 2 questions:

1) Is there a difference between format and fdisk? If so, can someone please explain

2) When doing a format and then installing win98 with boot disk will I need to code that came on the win 98 cd case? I have a legal copy but I have no idea where that case is.

Thanks!

fdisking a current drive will delete everything on the drive, I don't think you want to do that. Formatting a drive or a partition will erase the information on the drive if it only has one partition, or it will erase the partition if the drive has multiple partitions without erasing the other partitions.

Here is an article from microsoft, give it a read and then post back any further questions.

Yes you will need the cdkey to reinstall windows from the cd.

Hi,

If you can get into Windows (either normally or through safe-mode), then go to start, run, then type in regedit. Navigate to the following key, and it should show you your "Product Key" (on the right-window pane).

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\

Hope that helps.
