Red Screen on Dell Laptop

I turned on my Dell Laptop, Studio 1737, purchased in 2009, and I have a red screen in the background. This was a couple of days ago. I turned it off and when I turned it back on tonight, I still got the red screen on start up but now when the desktop comes up, it is not the full size of the screen.

The warranty is history.

I have included pictures of the screen. Any ideas would be helpful.

Thanx.

If you dont know how to do it id take it somewhere and have it done.Taking a screen apart isnt easy to do if you have never done it before.Because theres lots of tiny parts involved. If its the screen itself it will have to be replaced. Some graphics and video cards are easy to replace and some arent because they are part of the motherboard which means it will all need replaced and wont be cheap to do.You will then have to decide if its even worth fixing.

Hi Shari,
My name is Krishna and I work for the Social Media and Community Team at Dell. Try connecting an an external monitor and see if the red tint is on the external monitor. If it is, then the problem is with your graphics card. If it is not, then the issue is with your LCD.

Thank you, Krishna. I hooked up the laptop to an external monitor and there is no red, so I guess my monitor is fried. :(

Can you tell me how I can go about getting this fixed as the laptop is no longer under warranty and is only 3 years old.

Thanx for any help.
