 Hello; I'm new to WIN XP-Home, and my Recycle Bin is emptying itself every
shut-down. I want the contents to stay there until I am ready to empty the Bin
myself, as in WIN 98. I've searched all over, but cannot find the setting to
change Recycle Bin. Please advise and thanks.

Right click recycle bin>properties. Maybe "Do not remove files to recycle bin
Remove immediately when deleted" is ticked.

I'm guessing there's probably some utility installed that's performing this task. Look in Add/Remove Programs for mysterious utility software. This type of behavior is indicative of a security utility installed that "scrubs" a machine of things like cookies and temp files. Have you ever installed anything like this?

A HijackThis log might reveal the answer too.

 Problem solved!! It's the CC Cleaner, which is a good thing. There's a box there named "empty recycle bin" which I unchecked, and no more problem! Thanks to all who responded, thanks for being here!
