So my computer has no protection (firewall, virus scanner, etc.). So I was wondering if there was anything good on the web that I could immediately get?

So I downloaded the Comodo thing there, but when it finished downloading my browser said it could not open the program.

When I right-click and selecvt Open, it says Another program is currently using this file.

comodo YES, AVG is just a no, if you read up on some AV questions in the other sections of this forum you will see that the far magority will aim you towards AVAST FREE.! one of, if not the best av you can get thats free and beats some paid ones aswell.!

I changed to Avast! several months ago when an AVG update was throwing false positives and broke MS Works.
Avast! also functions better on my computer in the Eicar test.

Adaware, Spybot Search and Destroy, SpywareBlaster, RootkitRevealer and the Firefox browser with the extensions NoScript, Flashblock, and Adblock +........are good apps to install for security.

As noted, a firewall router is also a great security consideration.

I wouldn't use Norton if they were giving it away, with that said out of those two it would have to be Avast =)

What ive found out that Norton has Norton Internet Security and Norton Anitvirus. If we were to get Norton Antivirus some of what we get on Norton Internet Security we won't be gettin it on the Norton Antivirus. And if we were to compare it to Avast! Free home edition does Avast! Freem home edition does Better than Norton Internet Security? Please Advise. Thank You!

Norton Antivirus is just an Antivirus program, Norton Internet Security is an all-in-one protection ranging from antivirus, antispyware, firewall but again IMO Norton is a huge system bloater and I don't recommend it to anyone

here's a comparison of the norton products http://www.symantec.com/norton/theme.jsp?themeid=compchart-most-popular

but I agree norton is very bloated they have made it lighter lately with the newest versions but it's still not as light as avast!
