ok here is the deal, I have an older system that is driving me up the wall, so i'm in agreeance with my parents that I need a new mainboard and chip, I have my eye on the gigabyte GA-7vtxh and i'm planning on putting in an Athlon XP 1500, any objections?? I will use my soundblaster live card, and my elsa video card for now until I can get a Geforce, or something that is compatible with WInXP Pro which I already own. I also need to know if there is something I need to look for in the board when using this new processor, Like will my Front Side Bus speed besufficient with this processor, and overall is this a good choice, this is mostly going to be my toy and i will use it for a lot of college work also. Thanks for the opinions.

And what kinda memory should the board be able to use??

Look up the boards specs on their web site. They should tell you all you need to know as far as memory and what types of processors it supports. Since this is a newer Athlon you might be paying premium price for a new motherboard. Nothing wrong with getting a board/CPU combination that is only a couple of releases old....you will never know the difference.
