Jakey stayed in the tub playing for a whole hour last night! I almost freaked when I saw what it did to his poor little hands! They were normal again within a half hour or so.

Kinda creepy looking for an 8 year old, doncha think?

I didnt know that Lan! I made sure he drank a full glass of juice when he got out because I knew it must have dehydrated him. I also put lotion on his hands. But beyond that, I wasnt aware that it could be dangerous!

I really doubt there are any health risks from bating too long other than dry skin. Heck, we are made up of what, 90% water anyway. How do you get dehydrated sitting IN water??

I'm not sure..I do remember hearing that bathing was dehydrating once but dont remember any details. I think it has something to do with the heat of the water, perhaps?

Since I'm still fairly young (compaired to some of the board members), I can remember getting the same way when I'd take a bath or even wash dishes. My hands are perfectly normal today. I wouldn't worry about it Val.

Speaking from the experience of many, many hours in the bath as a child, I don't think there's any danger at all. I had prune fingers ALL the time, and they always returned to normal in no time without drinking extra fluid or using lotion or anything. But it looks cool! :p

I thought the pruniness was a result of your skin soaking up so much water. Gabi loves to stay in her baths, as well. I practically have to drag her out of 'em.

I didn't mean to over-emphasize the danger of prolonged water exposure.
I think the danger might occur after a full day or night so forget I mentioned it, okay?

Prune away! :D:D:D

I tried to get him out after a half hour so he could talk to his dad on the phone and he begged to stay in. He was playing with a squirt bottle and having too much fun. (he usually takes long showers so the big tub is a special treat) At the hour mark, I told him he HAD to get out and no more begging.

Hi Val :D

Lan, Yes I've been a fan from it's inception many, many, MANY years ago LOL :D
I remember laughing sooo hard at that line :D

Val, I can remember coming out of the pool looking like that LOL as did my kids.. almost every night at bath time :D
my daughter was born with wrinkly hands like that (they filled out almost immediately)
but if it were a problem I think a lot of kids would be in deep trouble LOL  :D

How is it that little boys can stay in the tub forever, playing, pretending to swim under water, etc., then get out and sweat little rivulets of mud? Never did understand that one, but as long as the kid was semi-clean and didn't smell like the dirty underwear we were both happy. He swore he used soap, but I sincerely doubt that fact!

My sweet little boy is now almost 25, and I don't think things have changed much over the years. He was home on leave last month and I had to practically force him to take a shower! Told him I'd have to drag him and wash him myself if he got my nice new sheets all grungy, but he just smiled that sweet smile that I'd missed for the last year and told me he was bigger and stronger than me. I'd already had my shower for the day, and didn't figure I wanted another, so I just held my breath as stored up extra hugs until our next visit.
