Hi all,

I'm looking at purchasing a Gateway ID58 series (http://www.gateway.com/systems/product/529668296.php) with the specs in my profile. In the field I work however, I'll need to be able to boot either Linux or Windows Vista. I may also be running CAD or other design software. I'm not positive of the max memory of the Gateway ID series, but it maybe 4 GB unless I can get a hold of 4 GB soDIMM modules. What I really want to know though is if 4 GB will be enough to be able to multiboot. And, if it's not, what is a good amount? Anyone know of any good Gateways for this? Thanks in advance.

Best

Multiboot is not affected by RAM amount. It has nothing to do with it. The amount of RAM you need is the maximum that would be required by any of the booted OS's. A booted OS has no connection whatever to any other OS's on the machine that are not booted.

If you have a 32-bit operating system, it will not support 4 GB's or over, so installing it would be a waste of time, electricity, and money.
