I am using Quicken 2000 Deluxe (I know, I know. I have to upgrade to Quicken 2004 in a few months to continue online banking; I keep reading how buggy it is. I'm dreading the upgrade)

Anyway, on my latest brokerage statement, they reflected a "rights offering" from a closed-end mutual fund. I received one right per share of stock owned. The rights have a cash value, apparently, and entitle me to subscribe for additional shares of the Fund's common stock at a discounted price. The rights are transferable and will be traded on the NYSE under their own ticker symbol.

Can anyone tell me how to log/enter this "rights offering" into my Quicken 2000 investment account? What "action" is used to describe this transaction?

Thank you.

You should be able to make a Journal entry for this type of activity.

I forget on Quicken off the top of my head what the menu clicks are to find the Journal entry screen though.

From the info in your question I believe the entry you're looking for should be something like this.

Investment account $50.00
Investment Income (Other income) ($50.00)

Hope that helps
Dan
