Quick monitor questions: 3840-by-2160 at 30Hz?

Hi. I own a Mac Mini and use it with a Dell 24" 1080p monitor. I'm thinking of upgrading my monitor to a 4K 27" (probably an LG).

I have a few questions:

The Mini supports a resolution of 2560 by 1600 at 60Hz and a resolution of 3840 x 2160 at 30Hz.

Will 2560 by 1600 on a 4k monitor look better than my current Dell? I realize the resolution will be higher but I'm just wondering if there will be any blurriness or other issues.

Is 3840 x 2160 at 30Hz preferable to 2560 by 1600 at 60Hz?

What are the drawbacks of running the monitor at 30Hz? Will I notice any issues?

Thanks!

P.S. In the future, I will get a computer that can drive a 4K monitor at 60Hz, but that won't happen for a while.

Image quality would depend on how well the monitor performs scaling. Any monitor can only display at it's native resolution. So any input resolution that doesn't match the native resolution gets scaled to match the native solution (higher or lower) for display.

As for refresh rate, I'd suspect flickering at lower rates (60 is standard for PC use). But I've not tested to verify. And that's assuming the LG will accept 30.
