This morning AVG 6.0 notified me of a Trojan Horse virus, I scanned the entire computer and AVG 6.0 found no virus detection. What happened?

And secondly..When I try to run Disk cleanup, it will stop responding at
(Old Scandisk files in the root folder)
How do I correct this problem?

Thanks!

Hello Gary, I have just joined this forum and have picked up your query because I have the same problem with Disk cleanup jamming at old scan disk files. Did you find a solution? How did you find and delete the files?
Thanks

I resolved this issue by clicking disk clean up.
when it says click OK, I clicked "View folders"
and I found 6 or 7 individual folders with over 350 files in each.
I deleted all of the files in each folder. (Don't worry, those files mean nothing)
That is what was suspending my disk clean up.
There were too many files to be scanned by disk clean up.

Resond to this when you've tried it out.
let me know.

Thanks Gary, I followed your instructions but I no longer get the window showing Disk clean up settings. It goes straight on to disk clean up and jams. Interestingly if I have a disk in the A drive and try to clean it I do get this window but that's no help as it does not list Old scan disk files. Alternatively I tried System tools/Maintenance Wizard/Change Maintenance settings/Custom......Delete unnecessary files/settings. I then get the disk clean up settings window with the option of unticking Old scandisk files. However it does not give the option to view these files although it does for other files eg Temp Internet files. I have tried unticking old scandisk files to stop it trying to delete them but this has not helped. It still tries to scan them and jams. Any ideas?

When you click disk clean up, you don't get a OK-CANCEL or VIEW FOLDERS option? First off, did you open "My computer" on your desktop then right click on C drive and goto properties? select disk clean up from there.
All I did was empty the TEMP folders and disk clean up started working fine ever since. Note: Disk clean up was being suspended for a good 2 minutes, then it started again.

I have tried going in via My Computer with the same result. I do not get the OK-cancel option or view folders. I do have Norton Utilities and firewall working which may make a difference. In C/Properties there is a Norton tab with disk doctor and speed disk options. Norton also has a clean sweep option which was also jamming but now works but does not solve the old scan disk files problem. It also offers options for clean up .One of these, the Lost Custer File shows up as empty. Frustration++!
