For the last two (2) nights, when I shut-down my computer, is see the following message Task Host is Stopping Background Tasks." I wait, but the shut-down never happens, and the message remains. Could someone tell me what the message means? last night I clicked "Shut-down Anyway." Is this OK to do? What might the task that Task Host is trying to stop be? Thanks for any and all replies.

Right-click on the taskbar, then click "Task Manager" in the menu that appears.
How many entries are listed there?
Click the down arrow in "More details", then click the "Startup" in the larger more detailed window that appears.
How many entries there are enabled?

If your PC stalls at shutting down for more than a minute or so, it is safe to click "Shut down anyway".

flavallee, thanks for your reply. In Task Manager, under "Processes," there are approximately 183 running. (I indicated "approximately" because in trying to count them, where were entries being frequently added, and after three or four attempts to count the, I came up with 183. Under "Startup," there are 6 enabled.

Your Windows 10 PC has about 50 more processes running than mine does, and the only entry I have enabled in the startup list is Windows Security.
Everyone uses a PC differently, and everyone uses different programs/apps, so there's no magic number of processes for everyone.

You haven't submitted any specs on your PC, so please do the following:
Click HERE to download and save the tsginfo.exe file.
When you double-click it to run it, a small window will appear with information about your PC.
Copy all of the text inside that window, then paste it here so we can look at it.

flavallee, thanks for your reply and I apologize for not replying to you until now. Task Host is no longer stopping my computer from shutting-down, and so I believe that all is well in that area. Thanks again for all of your help over the years.
