System Restore only restores Windows System files, not "user created filed" and documents etc.
Whatever you do, do not use that computer until you have run file recovery programs, the pst file will still be there but any loading of programs, or general use of the computer will seriously risk overwriting the disk location of the file which is now marked as "free".
PST files are usually very large, so they are often fragmented. This multiplies the risk of using the computer before recovery is done.
Ideally the hard drive should be removed and "slaved" into another PC and a suitable recovery program run such as: http://www.recovermyfiles.com/recover-deleted-email.php
This does show the value of having backups of shuch valuable files however.
