Ok on my network i have a proxy server in place and also have a wireless lan that uses the proxy, But the problem that i have is that some of the staff take the laptops home with them to do work on and when they come back to work the work that has been done at hom should sync with the server, now the problem that i have is that when a laptop is took home the staff are unable to use the internet as the proxy setting are still in place. I am not willing to allow any member of staff access to change these settings as the way i see it is, the more they know the more problems they could cause.

Is there anyway around this without having to setup a local account on each laptop? or is there any software that could do this?

Thanx

The reason i need to have the proxy disabled is when the laptops are at home they can not use their own internet connection without having to change the proxy details. I do not want to give this sort of athority to the staff as the more they know the more damage they can do. and plus withoutthe proxy details at work they can not use the internet at all.

A VPN will not work for what i need to do.

Any other ideas?

Thanx

If you have no problem disabling the proxy and opening the computers up to a host of other problems, just a write a script for them to run when they're at home that disables it. I assume you have a policy in place that applies the proxy when they're in the office.

no scripts or anything to auto apply it except for the standard GPO policy. when they log onto the domain.

I understand the problems it could cause by disabling the proxy but i cant think of anything else, as the teachers need to use the laptops at home and if the boss says do it, i have to do it.

Thanx
