When I try to run some programs in get invalid page fault in module KERNELL32.DLL and FFC42.DLL I also get a page protection faul in Mcicda.DRV. This happens most of the time when I try to run programs like B's player and Music Match

I have ran virus scans. I would really like to know if anyone has any idea about the general protection fault in MCICDA.DRV. This is the one thing I can not find any information on
Thanks!!!

Welcome to the board chellek.

I'm intrigued by the error in FFC42.DLL

I really can't find any information on it other than a suggestion that it may be related to a server type application.

Can you do a Find Files search for it? When you find it, right click and select Properties>Version. Is there any copyright info that identifies it? What folder is it in?

The suggestion here is that you have something running which does not belong in a "normal" Windows9x or ME environment.

Perhaps virus or "spyware" related...

It might be helpful to have a look at what you have running at startup. We can do this most thoroughly if you download the StartupLog.zip file from the link below. Unzip and run it. It will place a copy of Startuplog.txt on your desktop. Just copy and paste the results from that (not stubbpaths.txt) in your next reply.

Also let us know what version of Windows you are running.

Hi chellek,
The MCICDA.DRV error seems to be related to BPlayer. Try uninstalling it and reinstalling it. The driver may not have loaded properly

Apparently it is one of Windows Multimedia Midi drivers.

You should try replacing it, either by extracting the file directly using the System File Checker (Win98), or by going to Add/Remove Programs> Windows Setup> Multimedia and removing and reinstalling that set of components. You will need your Windows CD or to point to c:\windows\options\cabs when prompted for a CD. Remove the check, reboot, add the check and reinstall from the appropriate source.

If you use SFC....

1. Go to Start>Run and enter SFC and click OK
2. Check "Extract one File"
3. Enter the file name and click on "Start"
4. In the "Restore from" field enter:: D:\WIN98 [if 'D' is not the letter of your CD-Rom drive, modify appropriately]
5. Click OK

{if you do not have a Windows system CD, try subsitituting c:\windows\options\cabs in the"restore from field"}

=======

Also I can't find anything particularly enlightening about B'sClip:

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=B'sCLiP&btnG=Google+Search

except that it seems to be cd-rw related. I'd try running msconfig and removing the startup check for that if you continue to have problems.
