I recently installed a program that a friend gave me to study for a class I'm taking. During installation of the program, the install screen just closed a couple of times. I finally got the program to finish installing, and now when I run it, after a few seconds of running it it too just closes for no reason. I have also had the problem with IE closing recently. I decided to DL Norton AntiVirus b/c the one I had was expired. When I went to that website, it too closed a few times. I dl'd the package and when it was scanning for preinstallation for viruses, it found 100 various trojans and deleted all but 1 of them. The one it didn't delete was a backdoor trojan. Now when I try to install Norton, it too just closes for no aparent reason. I was wondering if maybe the backdoor trojan that it didn't remove was the source of the problem. If not, do you have any ideas?

Then reboot into safe mode and delete:
C:\PROGRA~1\Toolbar

Then 1. Click Start, and then click Run. (The Run dialog box appears.)
2. Type regedit

Then click OK. (The Registry Editor opens.)

3. Navigate to the key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

4. In the right pane, double-click each value that contains a filename with a ".exe" extension. Remove the space before .exe.

For example, "scandisk .exe" to "scandisk.exe".

5. Delete any value that refers to "fgdfd.exe" (with or without a space in the filename).
6. Exit the Registry Editor.

Post a fresh log when finished

What you had me do seems to have worked.

I was unable to delete C:\PROGRA~1\ToolBar because I was denied access to 'cursors' for some reason.

Also I found no filename with a space before the .exe nor did I find any fgdfd.exe to delete.

But again, it seems to be working fine now and I'm at this moment scanning with Norton.

Thanks for your help! :)
