I have a Compaq 5008US 800MHz Celeron PC and I wanted to know if it is possible to replace the processor with another celeron that is about 2-3 GHz. Would it be an easy replacement? and if i use the restore CDs would the PC get messed up?

Thanks
MJ

according to hp your processor is a FC-PGA, they topped out around 1 gig and even then if you bios and or jumpers won't handle it it wouldn't work anyway
I don't think it's possible to do a processor upgrade of any significant speed to warrant the cost with the current motherboard
