I have just returned from a short holiday with lots of lovely photos.I am getting No joy in trying to download my pictures to my computer. The camera is new, Olympus FE130 and I bought a 256 XD memory card which has been working fine. on trying to download i am getting error message on the computer software( source not found). If I turn on the camera the screen is stating a power off option or format.
When I came to get the camera out of its bag the battery cover was open. Help please!

To establish if the card is OK (as opposed to it being a problem with the camera) I suggest you buy or borrow an XD card reader which plugs straight into an XP computer via a USB port. No drivers needed. windows will see it as a 'removable disk' and give it a new drive letter. Pop the card in the reader then double-click the new drive letter in My Computer. If a Window opens containing a folder, open it. Your photos should be there.

Thanks anyway pip22.
I have downloaded a programme from" Pcinspector smart memory" but in trying to use the softwearit states that the removable disk is not recognised or busy.
I have found a site in the US that will recover data but It is expensive and i want to try all other options first.

Take the battery out for a day. That resets some cameras. Since you have tried the card reader I would guess you have removed and reset the card in the camera.

Can you see the photos on the camera LCD?

With the camera connected and turned on look in My Computer to see if it making a new drive. It will probably be labeled “removable disk” or “camera”. If the drive is there click on it to look in the folders to see if the photos are there.
