have a lot of stuff stored in MS Works. But suddenly when I click on the Works icon on my desktop I get a Works message saying that "Works Task Launcher cannot install the necessary files to your computer's hard drive. There may be a problem with your computer's hard drive. You can try reinstalling Works. When I click OK, that message is replaced by similar one saying the same thing in different words. When I click OK on that message, the two messsages alternate back and forth a few times and then Works History opens, showing nothing in it.

However, all my Works stuff is still in My Documents. When I click on an item in My Documents, I can finally get it to open in Works. Sometimes it opens right away, and sometimes it first displays the above two messaages. But doing that does not restore them to Works History, which remains empty.

Works is all I need. a few years ago, MS tech support spent a lot of time trying to fix a Works problem was having. Finally, MS sent me an unregistered Works CD to install. But I can't find it.

Since Works is all I need, I want to get a new Works CD. I see from the ads that a person can transfer the stuff that is on a prior Works version into a new version. But I am trying to figure out how I can do that in view of the above problem.

I though I'd see if anyone has any ideas. I haven't yet contacted MS about the problem.
