I have a computer laptop Inspiron 1100
comm card broadcom 440X 10/100
XP home eddition + SP2
router/modem (in one) - DSL WLAN 100 ZyXEL P660HW

i have another 2 computers connected to the router successfully (desktop + laptop)

I use DHC option - for the other 2 computers it works automaticaly on the 'local area connection'.

On this one it does not !!!

if i change the IP manualy to use the router then,
the icon shows connection, but i can not ping the router (nor use IE, MSN, Skype ...)
to my supprise i can ping all the other computers in the net (and from them i can ping this computer)

were do i continue from here ?
i tried reboot everything - didn't work.
i tried switching cables, ports - this is not the problem. every port/cable works fine with the other 2.

I disabled the firewall and also the norton anti-virus - does not help.

any suggest ?

thanks

i don't understand.

i even gave manualy IP to all 3 computers.
any IP is OK on the 2
and no IP is working on the third computer.

so i think it's some problem with the specific computer but i have no id what.

WINSOCK2 FIX
=============
If you can't access the Internet with programs like IE, Outlook Express, or other web browsers, you may have corrupted Winsock entries.

To Remove the existing winsock2 registry entries (regardless of the OS) run:
http://www.onecomputerguy.com/reg/xp_del_winsock.reg

To add WindowsXP clean entries back in again, run:
http://www.onecomputerguy.com/reg/xp_winsock.reg

WINDOWSXP with SP2

There is a new command you can run with SP2 which will reset the Winsock2 registry entries back to their default setting:
netsh winsock reset catalog

TCP/IP RESET
=============
If you need to reset the TCP/IP protocol stack with XP you need to run a small script:

netsh int ip reset [ log_file_name ]

the log_file_name needs to be specified.
e.g. - netsh int ip reset ip_reset.txt
