I am writing this message on a laptop as my PC can no longer access the internet!
A few days ago I decided to re-install Windows XP in order to fix my computer from a nasty virus. Everything went fine but now I am having problems with this PC accessing the internet.
I found with Device Manager that several devices were not working/installed. These included "Ethernet Controller", "PCI Input Device" and "SM Bus Controller". I am unable to install these drivers as the computer cannot access the internet and I have no CD with these drivers on.
I am not very knowledgeable with Computers but I believe these drivers are the only problem. By the way, the PC has been installed with Windows XP SP1 (I would upgrade to SP2 but that again requires internet!).

Further Information:

Running Wired Broadband adsl using a netgear router and a Edimax Switch Hub. I have downloaded a Edimax driver .bin file but I don't think this will help and I do not know how to install it!

Please, please help me with this as soon as you can.

Merry Christmas! :)

see if you can download and burn hijack this to lappy transfer to pc install and run to create a log and re burn that and then post this in security forum,if you can not then if you have any saved installers on discs like norton etcetc then install and run with what database they have on them, reinstalling windows does not delete viruses

Use the laptop and google drivers for each device, burn to cd on the laptop and then install in desktop...or find someone who can do this for you. If that is a brand name then there are home sites you can find the drivers on, and if not, well then you have to check by device.

It's the PC that needs fixing John.

Try and find the drivers and then transfer them over to the PC from the laptop via USB memory stick or a CD.
