Printing Dilemma

My department is searching for either a piece of software or hardware that will perform the following actions:
1. Allow a user to print remotely to a printer setup locally on a Windows XP computer.
2. The user must then go to that terminal, and select the job from the available print jobs.

If you need any more information on this, please let me know. I've only recently begun searching, so I'm not even sure what to call this.

Are the computers in question on a Local Area Network? or are they all stand alone machines?
