printer problem

727 Views 3 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  bigdonmc
My problem seems to be improper printi ng when I email a message or a photo using my scanner. When I do email the message from my scanner the message is so large that only a one or two words will fit on the sheet of paper. This happens only when I email a scanned notice. If I just copy a note on the scanner and then print it, it will come out fine on my printer. Can someone help me?

I'm not quite sure if I understand your problem, but when you scan the image, are you using a very high resolution? If you scan a full page at 300dpi, you'll end up with a very large image, which could be your problem if you don't have your printer set to print the scanned page on one sheet of paper. Try scanning the page at a lower dpi..unless you already are?
Always open up anything after you scan it to see how big it is. The problem is, as bigdon said you are scanning at a very high resolution, which is fine for storing on your hard drive (assuming you have plenty of space) but not for e-mailing because it takes forever, especially with a modem. Just resize the image to something smaller after you scan it. I prefer that to scanning at lower resolution because you can play around with the image afterwards to get it just right. If you don't have an image editor, use this free one, which is better than most editors anyway:

Thank you for your quick responce to my problem. I found out that I was printing out my info at 720dpi so I lowered it to 75dpi and it worked great but I now have another problem regarding the printout. It now takes 2 pages to print out the item. On the first page it only prints the page number (ie Page 1 of 2 "From" recipient, "To" recipient, "Sent" and then "Attach". Then it starts a new page to print the single page document. What's going on here?
