hello

i'm having a problem sharing the printer on my home network.
i have 5 computers
all connected through a linksys router
the one with the printer attached (lpt1) is running windows 2k pro
1 windows xp home
1 windows 2k pro
1 windows 2k pro (wireless)
1 windows xp pro

i have set the printer to share and named the printer (printer)
but when i go to add printer from another comp it can't find the printer
on any of the computers except of course the one it's attached to

i have pinged all the comps they all recognize each other
i set static ip's on all comps

any suggestions?

On the Local Area Connection Properties on each PC network connection have you enabled (ticked) the "File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Network" component?

when you add a printer - i asume you are selecting netwrok printer and then typing

\\name_of_computer_printer_is_phyically_attached_to\printer

If the networking is configured correctly, you should simply be able to browse to the printer as well. Then you don't need to remember much.

i can't seem to get the wireless comp to add the printer
it says access denied

Do you have the same user account created on the XP Pro computer that is logging into the wireless one.

Also, the default setting for XP Pro is to require a password for network access.

Sorry for the typo but the basics are still the same - Do you have the same user account and password created on the Windows2000 computer that is logging into the wireless one.
