Welcome to TSG!!

It sounds like a pickup roller problem. See if you can find where the rollers are. Depending on the model, you may be able to turn the tires inside out.

Lexmarks are gravity fed machines with a single pickup on that side. Depending on how old it is, the environment its in, the amount of use it sees, and the type of paper it uses will depend on how well the pickup roller is.

A trick we used to show customers with pickup problems was to get a sheet of HP photo paper (the type with the rough back) and run it through upside down a number of times using the page feed test.

Try not to use alcohol to clean that wheel - the result would be good pickup at first, but since alcohol dries the rubber, it will shorten the life of the roller. There is a pickup roller refreshing liquid available at FixYourOwnPrinter.com.
