Often you can download a newer version of the setup and driver files from the manufacturers website. THis is because the version that shipped with your printer may have problems that the company didnt know about when it shipped or they didnt have a fix when it shipped. ANd yes sometimes these problems can be installation of software problems. I always check for software updates before I install a new piece of hardware.
