If I have a sheet in Excel and want to print out say a section in Row one and then a section in Row four, I know I can highlight the first area I want to print and then set the print area and then add to that print area but when it actually prints out it always prints on two pages. Is there anyway of forcing it to consolidate on to one page!? Or is there another method of being able to print two separate sections of a sheet on to one page......

Any ideas appreciated!

This is not something I've ever looked at.

To start with, what do you mean by "sections"? Hiding rows &/or columns will prevent them from printing.

Erm ok lets say I want to print Cells A1 - G4 so I set a print area, I also want to print A44 - G46 so I add that to the print area, then when I do print preview it will print the first print area on one page and the second print area on another page, what I would like it to do is to print it all on the one page but I can't see how. I know you can hide rows which stops it printing the hidden rows but sometimes that can be time consuming if you have a huge sheet but only need a couple of bits of info. Its something I haven't come accross before either but it makes sense to be able to do it, but perhaps not..........hope this gives you a better explanation,.......

Yes.

Check out (Views --) Custom Views.

And/or Report Manager (this is an add-in, you may need to check Tools -- Add-Ins).

This link will tell you how...although its a bit involved. I believe it was posted by dreamboat who is a very excel savy poster here at techguy. Hope this helps

EDIT: in the normal mode where it prints on 2 pages you can also print 2 pages on 1 sheet by going to File-page setup-options(layout tab) and click on the pages per sheet and put 2 in and both pages will print on 1 sheet

Thanks itsmeitsmeitsme ; I always forget CopyPicture (but then I forget so many things ;) ).

Just for info tho',

"note that holding down Alt and Shift and using the mouse to click 'Edit' on the menu does NOT work – i.e. you HAVE to use the 'E' on the keyboard"

is wrong ; once the range is selected, you CAN just hold down Shift & then click on Edit. At least in XL2K.

>> cool tool!!

OK. In that case the Camera tool may also interest you, since it pastes a linked picture (i.e. changes to the copied area automatically update in the pasted picture).

To try it out, rightclick the menu bar and choose Customize. Then follow the screenshot.
