Aloha,
Is this monitor any good? Should I look around for something that is 16ms and not 25ms response time or is there very little difference between them. They have this on sale at Costco and it costs $569.99 and has a $50 rebate. TIA

Yeah, that sounds like a good deal. I have a 17" Samsung LCD and it kicks ***. I paid about $400 for it. I went from a 19" CRT to a 17" without problems. And to me, I rather save $100 than get 2 more inches. I know, size does matter. But, in my opinion, I'd save $100..... but if ya got the money, go for it.

Keep in mind that measurements are done differently on a CRT and a LCD. A LCD that is 17" has 17" viewable, where as a CRT that is 17" could have as little or possibly less than 15" viewable. It's more than likely that a 17" LCD would be very close to the viewable size of a 18 or 19 inch CRT. Also, LCD's show images from corner to corner, where as a CRT normally has some black space on the edges that isn't utilized.

As an Example, My Sony SMD-X82 LCD is 18.1" thats the size of the monitor and what is viewable. On my backup CRT, a Trinitron Flat screen 21", the viewable is only 19.2".

Yes, the contrast ratio on that one is fine, anything over 500:1 should be good for most application, but even at that you might notice some tearing during games, but the 700:1 is great. The response time looks good as well, check this article for more info on those.
