We are hooking up a second DVD player. The first DVD player/burner is on Primary Master.

Which would be better to use for the second DVD player, Primary Slave, or Secondary Master, or doesn't it make any difference performance wise?

WetChicken,
It depends on what you are going to do with the second drive.

First, If your DVD burner is the primary master, what are you booting from?

That's why I said, "It depends"........but i still wanna here the answer to the boot thing.

Most Burners prefer to be Master.
So it would depend upon where you want the transfer to go. (harddrive or other DVD drive)

Tranfers are faster between opposite channels, not on the same one.

Wow I stand corrected. Hehe that's why I said most likely. Learn something new everyday. Out of curiosity, why would it be slower on the same channel? Is it because you're using the same media to transmit and receive?

It is easiest to see like this

Same channel: Two cars passing each other on a narrow two lane street.

Opposite channels. Two cars on a divided highway.

Hehehe, no big mystery... I'm booting from a 160 gig SATA Seagate hard drive :D

Ok from what I've read so far it looks like the answer is to put the second DVD as Secondary Master.

Is that correct

OK thank you everyone!

Fed Ex just delivered the DVD burner so I'm installing in now :D

I just wanted to install it right the first time, instead of trying to install it again a dozen second times :p

Thanks again
