Priciest Burger in NYC Debuts at $41

NEW YORK (AP) _ And yes, it comes with fries.

A 20-ounce (560-gram) hamburger fashioned from ultra-tender Kobe beef debuted this week at the landmark Old Homestead restaurant. At $41, it is the most expensive hamburger in the city.

It is the first time the 135-year-old steakhouse has ever put a burger on its menu. The restaurant bills it as "The World's Most Decadent Hamburger."

"This is not about price," restaurant owner Marc Sherry said Friday, when the restaurant sold nearly 200 of the new burgers. "This is an event."

The burgers debuted on Tuesday.

Kobe beef, imported from Japan, comes from cattle raised on beer and massaged daily to make the meat soft and succulent.

The burger, which has a piece of herb butter in the middle of each patty, comes on a special roll with exotic mushrooms and microgreens _ shredded baby lettuce.

Put away the bottled ketchup. The burger comes with a homemade ketchup, mustard or horseradish sauce.

"And it's served," Sherry added, "with our classic garlic shoestring fries."

I actually had a Kobe steak in Hong Kong on someone elses expense account. It was very very tender and very good.
I think that too much emphasis is being placed on the massage and not enough on the beer diet.

They eat a lot of interesting things in Hong Kong (notice I say they do). But since Tuppence2 is around 'nuf said.
Oh I did eat something called "horse-tail cow" with a distictive, interesting flavor.
hmmm.............nuf sed............gee I wonder who that reminds us of....

Ok I would like to wager the bet that (and believe me I am NOT proud of this) living in Buenos Aires, Argentina I ate more things from the cow and more things cooked USING the cow than anyone here combined. They do and eat some wired stuff there...........but let me tell ya...........it actually is really good.....(don't worry you can't pay me to go into details)........and the beef is incredible....................and best of all the nation-wide standard price for beef is (or at least was) $6 all you can eat. :D Yeah I'll skip the $41 thank you very much.
