Hi,
My son wants to install Macromedia ( now Adobe I guess ) Flash Player on the family system, but I have a few questions first.
What is it and are there any vulnerabilites present with it?
I have Win XP Home SP2. All Windows updates, Windows firewall, as well as a router. I use AVG, Spybot and Ad-aware regularly. Also, we always face the web on a restricted account.
Will Flash work from the restricted account, if installed on the Admin account?
Any insight will be appreciated.
Thanks for your time,
patmac

NOTE: Adobe is the parent company for Macromedia, also for Adobe Acrobat & Dreamweaver product lines.

Flash Player is safe and even required by some utilities, like NERO.

CAUTION: Do not install extras that you are prompted for, some can be a problem. Just install Flash Player for now.

Flash Player is not a desktop application at this time. It is a web player that is used in your browser as a plugin. You need it to see videos on some sites like youtube. It is also used for some games and ads on the web. You need to install it with administrator account. If you have access to the browser, flash should play.

Hold the phone! I've just been notified that I have been requesting info on the wrong thing. My questions are really related to Flash, the whole program, not the "player". I guess it's the app that creates flash media. Sorry for the confusion. Thanks again for your time.
