I have Outlook Express running all the time. It checks for and retrieves new e-mail at 5 min intervals I have 6 e-mail accounts being checked. I have anti-virus monitoring and intercepting ~6 worms and viruses a day (from one of these accounts). When a virus/worm is intercepted it stops the e-mail checking process. The problem is that after a while (hours to days) my POP3 accounts time out one at a time. Eventually all POP's are unreachable. The only way I've found to reset this is to do a hard reset of my directway DW6000 satellite "modem" I'm not sure why....since this problem has been irregular. How can I keep these ports open?
Are there any settings I should tweak to avoid this time out problem. I'm assuming I'm being timed out. I've tried other e-mail clients but unfortunately OE serves my uses best. I recently turned off the spam assassin on my web/pop3 host...problem has mellowed a bit but still occurs.
