Greetings:

I find most images (both pictures and graphics) embedded in web pages are very poor quality- very blocky and lacking in detail. I have tried to change my display properties settings several times, but no change has been observed. (The settings indicate a (R)82852 / 82855 GM/GME graphics controller). All other photo images are fine such as Photoship, slide shows, etc.

The computer is a Toshiba Satellite A45-S 150 laptop.

Welcome to TSG

If your getting images off the web then most have been compress to make the file size smaller so pages load faster.

jpg and gif are bad formats.

But if your saving images as jpg make sure you are not compressing it again.
Each time you save a jpg it gets worse looking and also by default most image program are set to compress jpg files so check your setting and change the default.

If you are using "speed up" software provided by your ISP, that will cause poor images on web pages. Such software gives the ILLUSION of faster surfing by caching pages and compressing images.

Bingo! I turned off the Earthlink "accelerator" and the images are now sharp. And so are you'all!
