Laptop is like running through molasses. Also does not repond to Shutdown. Boot up is extreeeeemely slow.

With previous experience in this great forum :) :) :) I did the following minimal repair and data gathering:

First, REbooted into safe mode and ran first AVG and then AVGAS. Deleted everything found in both cases. AVGAS log attached.

Then, ran a Pandascan and HJT. Logs attached.

All help much appreciated!:eek: :eek: :eek:

Download WinPFind.exe to your desktop and double click on it open it and then select “extract” to extract the files. This will create a folder named WinPFind on your desktop.

Start in Safe Mode Using the F8 method:

  • Restart the computer.
  • As soon as the BIOS is loaded begin tapping the F8 key until the boot menu appears.
  • Use the arrow keys to select the Safe Mode menu item.
  • Press the Enter key.

Double click on the WinPFind folder on your desktop to open it and then double click on the WinPFind.exe file to start the program.

  • Click “Configure scan options”
  • Under “Run AdOns” select the following:
    • Policies.def
    • Security.def
  • Click “apply”
  • Click "Start Scan"
  • It will scan the entire System, so please be patient and let it complete.

When the scan is complete reboot normally and post the WinPFind.txt file (located in the WinPFind folder) back here along with a new HijackThis log.

Save it somewhere safe & unzip it to desktop.

Double click the gmer.exe to run it and select the rootkit tab, press scan and when it has finished press save and copy the log back here please.

There is probably a conflict because they both have realtime monitors. If you turn off the realtime monitor part of AVG-AS, do you still have the same problem? You could also take AVG-AS out of startup completely and only use it as an on-demand scanner.

Actually, it's D "none of the above". :p

My grandfather nicknamed me Cookie when I was an infant and I've been called that ever since. When I tried to register with the name Cookie, of course it was taken, so I just added "gal" to it. :p

BTW, the dog is a he and his name is Brandy. I'm sure he loves cookies too, at least I know he loves this one. :p
