I have windows ME, after I upgraded my internet explorer to 6.1, I rebooted my system I received an error loading explorer .exe you must install windows. I hit the ok button and the next error is a required .dll file shlwapl.dll was not found. I can not get past this point. I can not get to the desk top. I can not re-boot in the safe mode. when I put my windows me disc in the cd rom and restart the system I does nothing

Try start/run and type sfc which should bring up system file checker i believe. Then run the check for missing or damaged files.
