So today I was just browsing the web trying to find out some info about a game when the fake "Windows Security Antivirus" thing came up. No matter how I tried to close it, it would not turn off, and I accidentally ended up enabling it to start its "scan", to which I immediate turned off my laptop during it. However, upon turning my laptop back on, I have noticed 1) None of my programs will boot up besides Firefox (they act like they try to, but then a black DOS/command prompt-like box comes up with nothing in it, and then disappears almost immediately). I can not install anything, nor can I run anything, so does anyone have any ideas on what to do on this one? Any help would be much appreciated!

Oh, I am using XP, and system restore will not come up either... Thanks!

Hi,
You need to start a new thread in the Malware/HJT forum here. Give a similar title & include the same info.
To deal with this you'll need guidance from a malware expert in that forum. Please be patient as there are lots of people after their help and there aren't that many to go around!!
