Okay, what I did was:
-Went to Windows XP Home Edition Setup screen
-I unpartitioned F and C like a dinkus.
-Tried to reinstall hard drive, but screen goes blank after : Caldera Dr-D is starting

-When I tried to install Windows again, it gives me a blank screen after Setup is configuring...blah de blah, you know...

So, where do I go from here!? I am as  mad  as a hot race horse because I've been trying for a week now to get this dumb-stupid-money-for-nothing computer to work. I just want to call in Hulk to smash the thing into pieces!
"HULK SMASH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Thank you again.

If you have Partition Magic 8.0, there is an "undelete partition" command that might help. Don't know if previous version have it or not. There are probably other ways to do it and if I did not have Partition Magic, I would look at those before buying anything.

I will be trying that within a few days on a drive that I just inherited and will let you know the results if no one has suggested a better option.

Set the first boot device to CD and install windows from there. You can make new partitions with XP setup.

You don't really need to "install" a hard drive...
