Hi,

I have a Windows XP Home Edition, and my computer has worked fine in matters of burning CDs for years now. Suddenly, as of a week or two ago, my drive can read CDs and play CDs, but it cannot burn CDs of any type.

My drivers are all updated, I think.

What could be causing this and how can I fix it?

Please, I am going insane!!!

HELP!!!!

All the best,
Ardit

different LEDs are used for reading and writing.

both will work for so many hours and then die. the LED used in
writing does alot of work and you would expect it to die before
the one that does the reading.

make sure there isn't some dust or other stuff on the LEDs.
open the door and blow out. even give a wipe with a Qtip.
Both are not things to do on good working drives but you
may have little to loose at this point.
