Funny cause nothing really jumped out at me either. But since I'm not too familar with log files I thought I'd ask.

The issues are as follows. A friend of mine had his Windows 98 operating system reinstalled because of a nasty virus. The technician who installed it lives in another city.

My friend has had problems that I thought I could fix. He complained of parts of windows remaining on the screen after he closed it down.

When I checked out his sytem he had a lot of programs running in the background that didn't need to be running. So I thought it resulted in that sort of "pause mode", where a computer seems to pause for a while when attempting to close a window, leaving parts of the window "hanging" around until finally, the window completely closes.

After I did the usual tweaks recommended for windows 98 to help speed it up, and utilized "msconfig" to uncheck those programs that do not need to load during the boot up process it seemed to work fine for me while I was there and the system performance was sitting at about 92%. However, they called me to tell me that in the evening his wife just touched the mouse (no clicking here) and all of a sudden items on their desktop began to open up all by themselves. (I told them to get a priest and perform an excorcism).

My thoughts were that they reintroduced the same virus they had before by transferring some saved files from the previous operating system to their computers new operating system. But I've tried everything under the sun to find a trojan or a virus and so far nothing. I've used AVG and Bo Clean, among others and am stumped about this.

Any Ideas? Thanks so much for your assistance.
