pesky shortcut notices at startup

thanks for the great advice concerning cleaning hard drive, I bought a Norton Clean Sweep and it has the wipe feature. Now I have one more question: every time I start my computer, several shortcut errors appear "cant find this or that". It takes forever to rid the screen of these. Can anyone help me get rid of these pesky notices, many thanks, el cato

Note down the names of the files in the error messages.

Next do this -

Start->Run->msconfig [enter]

Click on the Startup tab and uncheck the entries related to those files.

If that doesnt help post back with the exact error messages, also download and run Startup List from here . Post back with the results.
