Peripherals, OTG, and port adapters for Android (+others)
Hey there, got a couple questions. Sorry if this is in the wrong spot. My issue mainly pertains to android devices but have lumped other questions in as well surrounding certain topics. Feel free to move it, this is my first post here so please be gentle.
There's a lot and my thoughts are jumbled so bear with me:
Can a usb-c adapter hub or other such peripheral or lead (e.g. a portable screen or usb-c-->HDMI lead) be used in a micro-usb port if an adapter is used for usb-c-->micro-usb? If so what are the limitations of its functionality? This goes for any other usb-c things as well like headphones, Bluetooth, printers, storage, and so on.
Can I run usb-c peripherals in an otg adapter if they're converted to usb-a?
What can an OTG USB adapter do in its entirety? Can I mirror or add extra displays through one? Can I split it? Can it be used to root or access the system at all without permission from the device itself? Can they be used for file transfer between phones? Can they be used to mirror one phone display on another? Peripheral support (keyboard, mouse, gamepad, audio, mic, camera, hotspot, etc.) Between phones or with other devices? IR blaster/receiver? What exactly are its full capabilities? Can they be used with other micro-usb ports for additional features?
Will a micro-usb-->HDMI display converter thingy be able to mirror a screen to a tv from an Android device or just certain media types, rather, is it a true display port for say a monitor or screen, or does it have its own little environment that it operates within? Is there any peripheral available that CAN mirror a display without initial setup on the phone? Is this adapter powered or self-contained?
Main focus is obviously extra displays in Android, what they are, what they can do, are there different types, and whatever else I touched on. I have a broken screen on a few androids I'd like to get data off of, and set some up as IP cameras. Oh and can usb-c hubs and such be used with usb-a if an adapter is used? Is there backwards compatibility? Can I use adapters to get the OTG adapter to work with iPhones at all or?
Some of these may seem straightforward but I don't have a huge understanding of the WAY hardware works just what DOES and what DOESNT work, usually through experience. I just don't want to fork out money for adapters and leads if it turns out I can't use them at all.
