Hello all,
My computer has been having this problem for awhile now but never to this extent. I have trouble signing on to hotmail, my Bestbuy.com account, and my school's email account. It always brings me to perfectnav after I hit sign on.

I have read other posts and have done the following:
Downloaded and ran Adaware and Spybot, uninstalled Kazaa with Kazaabegone, and (hopefully) deleted these damn trojans that everyone has been getting since Sunday. I also ran hijack this so here it is. Please help.

Hi Stl102

Welcome to TSG! :)

Click here to download CWShredder. UnZip the file, close all browser windows and click on the cwshredder.exe then click "Fix" (Not "Scan only") and let it do it's thing.

When it is finished Restart your computer.

IMPORTANT!: To help prevent this from happening again, I strongly recommend you install the patches for the vulnerabilities that this hijacker exploits.

The simplest way to make sure you have all the security patches is to go to Windows update and install all "Critical Updates and Service Packs"

Also go to Add/Remove programs and uninstall Free History Cleaner.

After that run Hijack This again and put a check by any of these that are left.. Close all windows except HijackThis and click "Fix checked"

I downloaded the CWShredder, uninstalled the free history cleaner, did hijack again and deleted what you told me, I tried restarting in safe mode but failed but I did remove the P2P folder. Before I try it I want a confirmation that it is ok to try. I will post my hijack log later. I will also check for Microsoft updates while I wait for your response. Thanks a lot for your help by the way. :)

A few things though, Kazaa desktop 2.6 is still on my add/remove software options even though I already removed it. When I try to do it again it gives me some error "System cannot find the specified path."

Also I had a problem with my Norton AV and Internet Security not working. Something about an error when I try to update. Would I just have to reinstall it?

You still need to fix this one:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [P2P NETWORKING] C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\P2P NETWORKING\P2P NETWORKING.EXE /AUTOSTART

Restart and make sure the P2P NETWORKING folder has been deleted.

Yes the first thing you should try is uninstalling Norton.

You will have to edit the registry to remove Kazaa from Add/Remove programs. If you feel comfortable doing that.

Warning! Always back up the registry before editing. Modifying the registry can cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system. I cannot guarantee that problems resulting from modifications to the registry can be solved. Use the information provided at your own risk.

Go to Start > Run and type in regedit.

Find this Key Key: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall]

To back up that key before editing it just right click on it and choose "Export" and save it to a convenient location. If you make a mistake you can doubleclick the .reg key you exported to restore it to it's original state.

To see which application each sub-key represents, open it and there should be at least two values 'DisplayName' and 'UninstallString'. 'DisplayName' is the name used
in the Add/Remove programs list, and 'UninstallString' is the program used to uninstall the application.

To remove a program from the list you can simply delete the sub-key representing that program.

Well perfectnav is gone but now it leads to the cannot find server page with all the options of trying stuff. I have reason to believe it is bc of a secure location but I do not know how to fix it. Also another problem that I have bc of these trojans is that it messed up my connection to PartyPoker (play poker online). Again, this could be bc it is secure but hopefully we can fix it.

Do I have to remove Kazaa from the list even though I know it is off my computer? If not, I am not that worried about it. I do not have startup disks at school so I don't want to try anything I do not have to.

You don't have to remove the Kazaa entry.

Try repairing Internet Explorer. Click Start > Settings > Control Panel, then double-click Add/Remove Programs
On the Install/Uninstall tab, doubleclick "Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 SP1 and Internet Tools", click the Repair Internet Explorer option, and then click OK
