PC to TV HDMI Connection No Longer Recognized

Hello all, and thanks in advance for your time and advice.

To get to the point, I've kept my Vizio TV connected to my Asus CM6850 PC (running Windows 7) via HDMI for a couple of years now, using the TV every so often as a duplicate display (when I flip it over to the HDMI input). Otherwise, I keep a typical computer monitor hooked up via the VGA output on my PC. Until recently, as long as the HDMI is connected (regardless of TV on or off), it shows up in both my "Display" settings and as an audio connection in the "Playback devices" menu. When I would disconnect from the PC or TV, those options disappeared from both settings menus (not just "Not plugged in", but gone completely), as I expect it should.

However, last week, as everything was working normally, I went to flip my TV over to the correct input for HDMI and...didn't get anything. So, I checked my computer and, sure enough, no HDMI connection is showing up or being detected at all (again, not even listed in "Playback" and no detection in "Display"). Of course, I've checked the HDMI cord elsewhere and it's working fine. I've tried different HDMI ports on the TV to no avail. I've rolled back and updated my graphics driver (Intel HD Graphics 2000) with no success. The only other things I'm aware of as being potential causes are these automatic Windows updates (which I cannot uninstall, and my efforts of system restore didn't fix it either) or a suddenly bad HDMI port on the computer, of which I would assume is not an often problem.

If I've overlooked anything or am not aware of another potential issue, I would greatly appreciate any advice. Thanks again!

So, will the HDMI port always be displayed as either "plugged in" or "not plugged in", just as my main speakers are? Or, is it the case that if it isn't displayed there is a more serious problem, such as a bad port? As you can see, the HDMI port isn't displaying at all. There's no recognition in the monitor/display settings either.
