Hi Are these 3 programs compatible with each other or would adding SpyWareBlaster to a system that already has Adaware and Spybot be unneccessary??

Hello:

I run all three.

Spybot and Ad-aware compliment each other without interfering with each other; what one may miss, the other will catch.

The above apps detect and eliminate spyware whereas Spywareblaster prevent spyware from being installed in the first place.

Vanmol, I've wondered about this as well, particularly since another member had recommended SpyWare Blaster a few weeks ago. If you go to the spywareguard site it recommends the combination of the "blaster" and the "guard". Now to piggyback on your question, Wouldn't we eventually have a screen full of icons featuring anti-spyware programs if we continued to download all of them? I have Adaware and Spybot already. Do I really need to add others?

I suppose it depends to some extent on your computer's spec as to what resources you have available to run lots of real time scanners etc.

I have a total of six security related apps running, anti virus, anti trojan (with registry monitor), firewall, cookie wall and Startup Monitor. If I switched on the Ad Watch component in AdAware that would be one more!

I have AA , Spybot and SpywareBlaster and did try SpywareGuard but removed it because I thought it might just be the straw that broke my (450Mhz, 128MB Ram) camels back!

HI guys Right now I have Adaware, Spybot, Spywareblaster, Zonealarm (free) running. Since the addition of Spywareblaster yesterday it seems that a couple of online sites have slowed down a bit. If I can attribute it to Spywareblaster I'll probable remove it.

I may be wrong (I frequently am) but, unless you have AdAware Plus or Pro, of the programs in your list only Zone Alarm runs in 'real time' as far as I know but I stand to be corrected on that.

You don't mention an anti virus but I assume you have one running. I have NAV and I understand that it and ZA are considered to be resource hogs.

What seems slow to you would probably be lightning fast to me, especially if you have a 2Ghz CPU and 512MB of fast RAM!
