Outlook won't open

I have a client that has Outlook 97. Every time you try to open it an error message comes up that it cannot open and if continues to contact vendor. I have uninstalled and reinstalled twice, etc. with no luck. Any suggestions?

Start-Run:

outlook.exe /unregserver

then

Start-Run:

outlook.exe /regserver

??

Thanks so much for your solution! I finally got her Outlook to work, but I am going to file your response for future clients! Does this work for other software issues also?

There are "easier" ways for most of the other programs. And you can just post your Qs here.

But there are a bunch of Outlook command line switches, like:

/cleanreminders for when people's reminders don't work right

/cleanfreebusy when their free/busy time isn't being reported right

Just go to Technet:

Put your product in.
Put "command line switch" in the search. Or just "switch" or "switches".

You'll find a bunch of goodies.

Oh! You can't use the regserver on Outlook XP (but you can use the other switches). Just use detect and repair Office from the control panel.
