I use Outlook 2000 for my diary, calendar and e mail client its attached to a Microsoft Exchange server via a 100mbs LAN, Outlook allows senders of messages to request notification of when mesages are delivered and when they are read (i.e. reciepts).

Is there anyway as a regular user, (no access to the server admin functions etc.) I control how and when message read notifications are sent ?

I'm not on an exchange server anymore, but try this:

Tools-Options, Preferences tab.
Hit the email options button.
Hit the tracking options button.
Check out the options at the bottom:

--always send a response
--never send a response
--ask me before sending a response
