I am working on a XP PC that has just dyed. I am just going to format the drive. right now the drive is shared as slaved drive in another computer.

I need to get the e-mails back that are on the PC.

i was going to search for the files am i right in thinking that the file extention are some thing like : *.dbx,*.pst,*.Mbx,*.snm,*.msb

If you are using outlook express you only have to worry about the .dbx files.

These can be found in your identity folder. WHich is usually found at the following location:

systemdrive:\documents and settings\username\local settings\application data\identities\identitynumber.

For example mine is:

C:\documents and settings\myname\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities\{0680AF47-F2A4-4796-9921-8E26EB191FA3}

Copy the folder {0680AF47-F2A4-4796-9921-8E26EB191FA3} to your new system, and then start outlook express and important your mail from that folder.
