When I open up my Outlook express I get 7 emails, I delete them then close OE. I get a box that says "Receiving message 9 of 10", that never finishes and times out with the below error messages. I open up my OE agian and get the same 7 emails and when I close I get the same box and error messages????  Is this spam should I get a spam blocker, I just recently installed NOD32 and removed Norton Internet Security.

Hi gsully

Welcome to Tech Support Guy Forums!

Have you logged into your ISP's mail server to see the messages?

Try moving your Server Timeout to a longer setting.
In Outlook Express:
Tools > Accounts > (Account Name) > Properties > Advanced tab
Move the slider to at least 2 minutes, if it is already at that amount, move it to 5 minutes.
Apply, Close

Click Send/Receive

Let us know if that makes a difference or not.

If possible see if you can log into your email thru the ISP web site..It looks like you either have a corrupt email that's not downloading properly or a email that's to large for the server mailbox..

If you can log into your email account through your ISP webmail, look at deleteing whichever last 3 emails that are stuck downloading or delete all your email in the inbox..more than likely its someone who might have sent pics or something...most mailboxes can only fit one 3-5 meg file at a time..anything bigger and you'll encounter this type of problems..

Good Luck!

Gsully: I have had this happen probably a dozen times over the past 4 years. It's caused by a corrupted e-mail message. The message is virtually always one that contains a large amount of unconverted graphics (the Internet is a text-only medium, so binary files have to be encoded when sent and decoded when received). If the file somehow misses the decoding, you wind up with an all-text file containing a HUGE amount of text which is actually the graphics. I have to log into my account on the ISP's server and delete the message. If I don't do that, no subsequent messages can be downloaded. So in order to get any more messages, you're going to have to zap that one.
