My moms pc is running XP like mine and AVG too. I think we have same settings but her PC sends out every mail with paperclip and most all are received with the paperclip too (however already open since there is nothing attached)
I looked at OE settings and AVG to see if something was coming in as attached and that is not the problem. How can I get reid of the paperclip if there is nothing attached?

Hi tamilynn63

Is AVG configured to Certify Mail?

It adds information at the bottom of the messages "Certified virus free" etc.

This adds the attachment icon.

Open AVG's control center.
Right Click on the E-mail Scanner component
Select Properties
Click the Configure button and uncheck Certify Mail
OK, OK to save and close.

AVG will continue to scan the messages, with the Certify Mail option disabled, it will not add the "Certified virus free" message.

Send a test e-mail to her account to test.

Let us know if that works for you or not.
