When I open outlook my system freezes. It seems to be stuck on recieving mail. I can't get into it to check the settings.

Wheat can I do to repair outlook?

Check and see if your ISP has a web site that you can get into where the e-mail for down loading to your system is stored.
I had the same problem with Pacbell and found that somebody had sent a 29meg file and the system would not take it. Also found some e-mail in there that I did know who sent, so I deleted all that and now things work fine.
I have tried to reinstall outlook and am getting error message. See attachment

Looked into ms support, but none of the knowledge base articles has the solution. I looked at 3 articles and followed their instructions, emptied every single temp internet file and still get the same message. The only thing I can think of is that 'empty the browser cache' is different than cleaning out the temp int files.

I went to the internet options on the control panel and cleaned everything out, ran zdelete, and event did a search and emptied the files that way. Still getting the message.

Can anyone help?

Call your ISP on the telephone and get them to delete all pending e-mail. The problem is on their end most of the time.
I can get to email from isp, but the issue is that the freezing of the system is spreading to the point that I don't have to open my mail anymore and it's freezing up.

I have tried to reinstall outlook and am getting error message.

THE DOWNLOAD LOCATION INFORMATION IS DAMAGED. PLEASE CLEAR YOUR INTERNET EXPLORER BROWSER CACHE AND RETRY SETUP

Hiya

Go to Start | Find Files, and type in

*.dbx

Search on the entire drive, usually C.

Locate the Inbox.dbx

If it doesn't say the extension, then open Windows Explorer. Tools | Options. View tab. Look for Hide File Extensions for Known File types. Untick, apply and OK.

Search again. Then, rightclick on Inbox.dbx, and choose Rename. Rename to Inbox.old

Reboot, and see if that helps.

Regards
