Pretty funny actually, but it's getting annoying now. I have win 2k, and this morning when I opened an email, it took me to a porno site that I quickly tried to get out of. Once I clicked out of the page, my wallpaper had changed and if I go to the properties tab for the desktop and try to change the wallpaper, the display properties are froze?!?!?!??! I can't scroll, browse etc. The other tabs such as backround, screensaver etc work fine....HELP

MrFoad, I'm going to move you to the Win2k forum because the troubleshooting/fixes for a problem like this are likely to be OS related and different than most are used to.

For example, do you have a "last known good configuration" you can return to? Or is that only used for booting problems? Is there anything equivalent to Win98s scanreg /restore ?

Hi MrFoad,

Close Internet Explorer and Outlook Express.
Go to Control Panel/Internet Options, and clear your temporary Internet files.
Now click on Settings/show files, and delete your cookies.

Go to the 'Security' tab, and set all ActiveX options that are now set to 'allow', to 'prompt'.
Also uncheck 'Enable install on demand' on the 'advanced' tab.

Now first backup your Registry:
Go to Start/run, and type scanregw, followed bij 'OK'.
Choose yes to make a fresh registry backup.

Now Go to Start/run, and type Regedit.

Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System

Is the subkey called 'System' indeed there, under 'Policies', highlight it, and choose 'delete'.

You may need to reboot.

Good luck,
